our journey so far…
Roadmap 2050
A combination of momentum built from community leaders in the creative space, and forums held through the Venture Taranaki 2050 roadmap - led to a gathering of volunteers, and further in depth research conducted to the specific needs of our creative community.
These included the need for a non profit organisation to coordinate and advocate for the space, accessibility to capability building, commercial opportunity and each other through shared platforms and events.
This would give us the ability to act together, develop and implement strategy that would benefit all levels of the creative community and sector, aligning with the regional and national support available to resource actions and outputs, and connecting with the wider arts eco system.
How Creative Taranaki was formed
Over the past Three years, we have been tackling each step to establish Creative Taranaki Trust. It’s been a long haul and it meant dotting every i and crossing every t to ensure nothing is out of place before submitting our trust deed to the Companies Office.
There have been depositions to councils, registration with Charities Services, meetings with insurance brokers and lawyers, policies drawn up, codes of conduct, job descriptions and all the behind-the-scenes paperwork that is required to become a Regional Arts Organisation.
We wont lie- because that’s not how we operate. It’s a long journey to get a Regional Arts Organisation up and running. And from our conversations with other regions, it’s a similar journey. But in the meantime, we’re doing everything we can and need to, to keep this train making it up the hill to success.
With the initial phase complete -we enter the action phase. Now we get all voices at the table in real time to promote, advocate, support and be dynamic to the changing environmental challenges.
Through our initial outputs - events, workshops, digital platforms, and advocacy- we can bring value while channeling voices and needs, garnering greater support to resource and deliver against them.
